What is Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR)?
Your resting metabolic rate is the number of calories your body burns at rest to support essential functions like breathing, circulation, and keeping your organs working. It gives you a better understanding of how much energy your body needs each day, even when you're not exercising.

How Does The Test Work?
You'll sit comfortably and breathe into a tube connected to our metabolic testing equipment. Your nose will be gently plugged so all your breathing goes through the tube, allowing the device to measure the oxygen you use and carbon dioxide you produce. The test takes about 20 minutes, and we will walk you through your results afterward.

How Long Does It Take?
The breathing portion of the test takes approximately 20 minutes. Plan for a little extra time to get comfortable, discuss the process, and review your results with Malynda.
Is The Test Uncomfortable?
The test is noninvasive and doesn't require exercise. You'll sit comfortably and breathe through a tube for about 20 minutes while wearing a nose clip to ensure accurate measurements. You can relax while the equipment measures your breathing.

Who Can Benefit From RMR Testing?
RMR testing can be helpful for a variety of people, including those who want to lose or gain weight, athletes who want to make sure they're eating enough to support their training, and people who experience fatigue or struggle with recovery. It can also be useful for people who experience frequent injuries or suspect they may not be getting enough calories to support their body's needs.

Can RMR Testing Help Me If I'm An Athlete?
Absolutely. Athletes need enough energy to fuel their training, recover between workouts, and support overall performance. If you're consistently underfueling, it can affect recovery, energy levels, and your ability to adapt to training. RMR testing helps establish a baseline for your energy needs so you can make more informed fueling decisions.
